The pacific island state of Samoa have change the side of the road they drive from the right to the left - getting it right if your from the British Commonwealth or Japan.

People from countries who drive on the left see driving on the right - wrong, and driving on the left - right. Samoa is the first country to change the side of the road on whihc the country drive since the 1970's......

While the world is dominated by road driving on the right in Europe and America there remains a strong core of left side driving countries including Great Britain, Ireland, Cyprus, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Kenya, South Africa and Kenya

The arguments for driving on the left are varied. A driver of a wide load is better able to judge oncoming traffic when driving on the left while it also allows the sword arm and whip hand to remain free when passing on the left on a horse.

At a deeper level, and think about this, in a head on collision the inate instinctive reaction of a human being is to veer to the left ( at least the majority of occasions ).  This is good because if you are in a position to avoid a head on collision driving on the left your likely to end up in a ditch, instead of under an on coming lorry and in heaven if your driving on the right.

For the Samoans it also gives them access to cheap left sided car imports from Australia, Japan and new zealand.

So applaud the Samoans on their enlightened and right decision to change from driving on the wrong side of the road to driving on the left - the right side!
